Mansfield and Pontiac distribute sandbags

7 May 2018 à 12:00 am

Throughout the weekend, municipal authorities monitored the water levels closely in the Pontiac and took preventative measures against the event of a flood.

Following the rains and the rapid snowmelt, the municipality of Mansfield issued a press release regarding the levels of the Coulonge and Ottawa rivers, which have been continuously rising increasing the risk of a breach of its banks. The municipal Council of Mansfield asks all citizens whose homes are located in flood zones to ensure the safety of their family members and protect their property.

Sandbags are available at the municipal sand pit located at 32 chemin Lac-de-La-Truite. The Municipality is asking citizens to ensure that the spaces at risk such as basements remain unoccupied overnight and to store the goods and furniture on the upper floors. Please ensure that dangerous chemicals and fuel tanks are stored in safe places to avoid them being washed away.
