At around 2:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon, Sûreté du Québec officers from the MRC de la Vallée de la Gatineau station were notified by citizens of a vehicle moving erratically on Route 105 in Kazabazua.

The vehicle turned on Route 301 towards Otter Lake where police officers from the SQ of the MRC Pontiac intercepted it while it was traveling at 141 km/h in a 90 km/h zone.

After routine checks, police arrested the driver, a 36-year-old man from Mansfield. He was taken to the SQ station and later released on summons. He is due to return to court at a later date at the Campbell’s Bay Courthouse, where he could face charges of impaired driving and refusal to undergo an assessment by a drug recognition assessment officer.

His driver’s license was suspended for 90 days while the vehicle was seized for 90 days as well. In addition, the suspect should be issued with tickets for speeding, crossing a double line and failing to comply with a mandatory stop.

The SQ thanked citizens for their collaboration and invited them to transmit any information relating to impaired driving.
