MRC Pontiac asks Health Ministry to improve their nursing employability offerings

In response to the many interruptions of services in obstetrics at the Pontiac Community Hospital in Shawville, the MRC Pontiac is asking the Ministère de Santé to improve the offer of employment for nurses in the region.

This resolution, adopted by the Regional Council of Mayors of the MRC Pontiac on Wednesday, October 16, asks that the ministère de la Santé et des Services Sociaux du Québec deal with this ”urgent” situation. The Director of Economic Development at the MRC Pontiac, Danielle Newman.

The MRC Pontiac has also resolved that the ministry consider offering competitive working conditions and salaries, as well as full-time positions, to attract and keep nurses in the Pontiac region.

According to the Warden of the MRC, Jane Toller, the gouvernement du Québec must take into account reality of the Outaouais region bordering Ontario and Québec, particularly when it comes to setting wages.

The Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) in the Outaouais has repeatedly mentioned in the last weeks that interruptions of service in the obstetrics wing of the Shawville Hospital is only temporary.
