Levels and flows of the Ottawa River have “slightly” increased over the past few hours, but are expected to stabilize in the coming days, due to cooler temperatures and the lack of significant precipitation.

In its most recent update, the Outaouais River Regulatory Board indicated that it expects “the levels in most sectors to stabilize close to the maximum levels observed during spring 2018”.

Before April 10th, the Board was projecting water to exceed the minor flood thresholds along the Ottawa River as of April 13th in places subject to flooding. Levels and flows have stabilized, however, due to colder temperatures, and less than expected precipitation has helped keep these levels lower.

The Warden of the MRC Pontiac, Jane Toller, says that she is in contact with the mayors of the municipalities concerned by the forecast of the level of the Ottawa River, notably in Rapides-des-Joachims and Sheenboro, but that there is no reason to worry:

The next update of the Outaouais River Regularization Board will be published on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
