BUSINESS ATTRACTION AGENT (contract position)

Join the team of the Regional County Municipality (MRC) of Pontiac and you will have the chance to participate in a project aimed at attracting businesses and promoting economic development on our territory.

The Regional County Municipality (MRC) of Pontiac is located in the southwestern part of the province of Quebec on the banks of the majestic Ottawa River, which forms a natural border with Ontario. It is recognized for the richness of its natural resources, its heritage and its cultural diversity. The Pontiac has a population of close to 14,000, of which approximately 57% are English-speaking, spread over 18 municipalities and an unorganized territory of 9,000 km2.

DESCRIPTION

The Business Attraction Agent provides support services for local and regional development, working closely with community partners. Their mission is to develop and implement a prospecting plan to attract businesses and investors on a national and international level to come to the territory. They also have the mandate to promote the Pontiac to decision-makers and economic lobbyists.

The agent will undertake the prospecting of potential sites and the identification of technical and financial partners and local suppliers. In the current context, this position may include remote telework requiring excellent time management skills and a high level of independence. This position reports to the MRC Pontiac’s Economic Development Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain close relationships and work with municipalities, local and regional organizations;
Support and promote entrepreneurship;
Implement actions to attract entrepreneurs and investors to the area;
Contribute to job creation and the development of the region’s economy;
Support, stimulate and accompany local promoters in the development of their projects;
Collaborate with local and regional partners;
Contribute to the determination of the economic profile of the MRC;
Participate in trade shows;
Contribute to the strategic planning of the MRC Pontiac;
Assume any other mandate entrusted by management.

SKILLS REQUIRED

Have a university degree in marketing or administration;
Three years of experience in a similar position;
A combination of education and experience deemed relevant could be considered;
Experience in project coordination and management;
Ability to develop excellent relations with the public and demonstrate courtesy and efficiency;
Working knowledge of the rural environment, municipal context and economic issues;
Knowledge of the usual technical process of site selection;
Mastery of the economic environment;
Good understanding of land use planning;
Excellent command of the Office suite;
Demonstrate autonomy, leadership and dynamism;
Have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

STRENGTHS

Two years of experience in developing or attracting companies;
In-depth knowledge of the municipal environment.

TREATMENT

This position is a 16-month full-time contract, 35 hours per week. Remuneration will be established according to the collective agreement in effect at the MRC Pontiac.

Location: The offices are located in Campbell’s Bay and the territory includes the MRC Pontiac. The schedule could include telework when necessary.
