“Even though we are now aware that there are no confirmed cases in our MRC, that does not mean that we are no longer at risk.”said the Warden of the MRC Pontiac, Jane Toller, in her daily update to citizens.

The Warden wanted to clear up the confusion about the number of COVID-19 cases in the region, after the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais published data on the confirmed cases by municipality.

It has been announced that there are less than 5 cases in the municipality of Pontiac, which is part of the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais. As for the MRC Pontiac, no municipality has been listed to date as having cases of COVID-19 on its territory.

The MRC Pontiac and the municipality of Pontiac were initially published together since these sectors are served by the same local health service network, which is the Shawville hospital.

According to Toller, many requests had to be made to the CISSS de l’Outaouais before it was decided to release this information by municipality, “for the sake of transparency”. She however reminded residents that preventive measures and restrictions on non-essential travel are still in place until they are lifted by the Premier of Quebec, François Legault.

The Warden updates the latest developments surrounding COVID-19 and her work at the MRC on a daily basis, live on CHIP 101,9. – French: around 7:45 a.m. and English: around 5:40 p.m.
