Interruption of service in obstetrics: CISSSO is looking for “solutions”

The Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais is still looking for solutions for the need in reliable obstetrics services in the Pontiac, a problem which continues to cause day-to-day logistics difficulties at the Shawville Hospital. The chief executive officer (CEO) of the CISSSO, Josée Filion :

During the first interruption in obstetrics, last July, the Shawville hospital was still able to give the service due to the help provided by midwives from Maison de naissance. Although solutions are provided daily to remedy the situation, the CISSSO commissioned manpower to recruit new staff. Once again, Josée Filion.

In an interview last week, the Pontiac MNA and Official Opposition Critic for Health and Social Services, André Fortin, reacted to the announcement of the interruption in obstetric at the Shawville Hospital, insisting that the government ensure strategies to have staff to provide the service.
