Interruption of Service in Obstetrics at the Shawville Hospital

Interruption of Service in Obstetrics at the Shawville Hospital

21 October 2019 à 12:00 am

The Outaouais’ Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) once again issued an announcement about another interruption of service in obstetrics at the Pontiac Community Hospital in Shawville. This break in service began Friday (October 18th) at 8 am and will continue until Monday, October 21st at 8 am, the entire weekend.

The CISSS de l’Outaouais also stated that the break in service is caused by a lack of obstetric nurses. Women in labour will be redirected, after being evaluated at the Pontiac Hospital, to the Gatineau Hospital. In the event that a pregnant woman presents herself at the hospital for imminent delivery, there will be qualified personnel to provide care for the mother, who will then be transferred to the Gatineau hospital. The CISSS de l’Outaouais mentioned that future moms affected by this break in service were notified. The CISSS de l’Outaouais has made it clear once again that this situation is temporary and that the return to normal is scheduled for Monday, October 21st at 8 am. In recent weeks, service failures have affected the obstetrics wing of the Shawville hospital on several occasions.
