CHIP 101.9 has unveiled, thanks to the work of photographer Gaetan Forgue, photos of the interior of the Davidson Sawmill. The plant has been inactive for ten years, but for a long time, the promoter of the project for the relaunch of operations, Bruno St-Cyr, affirms that the site has everything it takes to operate again.

The Davidson Energy project, who wishes to build a cogeneration plant that would serve as a lever to restart the sawmill, has already indicated that it will have to do repair work and renew some of the equipment.

The visit of photographer Gaetan Forgues gives an overview of the site and the scope of the equipment, but also of their condition. Here is what Gaetan Forgues had to say following this visit.

A rusty and outdated factory?
Mansfield-et-Pontefract Mayor Gilles Dionne also visited the sawmill. According to him, the plant is still in good condition. He mentioned that some people in the past would have claimed that the plant was rusted and no longer functional, a view he rejects. “There is updates to be done, but the equipment is still there and all the specialists who have come here mention that the plant can easily be restored,” said Gilles Dionne.

Gilles Dionne also deplored the fact that thefts, namely for electrical equipment, have taken place in recent years. He hopes this kind of incident will not happen again.

Last March, promoter Bruno St-Cyr estimated the cost of making the plant operational again ranges from 2 to $5 million. The next step for Davidson Energy is to take a full inventory of the equipment.
