Indoor gatherings will soon be allowed

From June 15, gatherings will again be permitted in private indoor locations, under certain conditions.

As is the case with gatherings already authorized outside, hosts may not receive more than ten guests at a time, from no more than three households. A distance of two meters between each family must also be observed at all times.

The strategic medical advisor at the Directorate General of Public Health, Dr Richard Massé, proposed keeping registers during private events, in order to simplify the task of the public health directorate in the event of a case outbreak. of COVID-19.

Citizens who wish to receive friends and family at home are invited to clean frequently touched surfaces before and after hosting the visit. Dr. Massé pointed out that indoor gatherings pose higher risks of exposure to COVID-19.

The Québec government also asks citizens to continue to comply with basic instructions at all times, including those concerning hand washing, avoiding unnecessary contact with common surfaces and objects and wearing face coverings. if the minimum distance cannot be respected. Food can be served, but buffet style meals should be avoided. Children have the right to play together, but with certain precautionary measures.

Useful measures to put into practice include reserving a bathroom for guest use and often cleaning frequently touched surfaces such as door handles and switches. People who receive are asked to find solutions to reduce the risk of transmission of the virus, for example by identifying the glasses with the names of people, serving dishes in separate bowls according to the household or by being creative in that sense.

It is also recommended to prioritize gatherings outside when the weather permits, to avoid the spread of the virus.

People at risk, either people over 70 or people who are more vulnerable to immunity, are advised not to participate in such gatherings. In addition, anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19, is under investigation, or has symptoms compatible with this infection should stay at home and avoid gatherings.
