The MNA for Pontiac and Critic for Health and Public Health, André Fortin, was accompanied, earlier this week, by representatives of the Conseil québécois des services éducatifs à la petite enfance to denounce the project of starting children in kindergarten at the age of 4 years, put in to motion by the Legault government last week.
It should be noted that more than 20,000 people signed a petition opposing this project.
2,500 subsidized daycare spaces
In response to the up rise created by the implementation of kindergarten 4 years in schools, the Government of Quebec announced the creation of 2,500 newly subsidized day care. Wednesday morning, the Minister of Families and MMA for Papineau, Mathieu Lacombe, presented measures to accelerate the accessibility of childcare services. The government also wants to accelerate the completion of nearly 11,000 subsidized spaces already granted. Mathieu Lacombe justifies these measures:
According to the rules announced by the Minister, each applicant will have to commit to completing his child care project within a maximum of 24 months and to reach a milestone after 6 months. If one of these conditions is not respected, the seats will be recovered and then offered again.
Note that before question period, the Premier, François Legault, said that the goal is to complete the network, while 20% of young children do not attend a CPE or kindergarten 4 years.
