Hairdressers, dentists and other body and beauty care professionals may resume service

21 May 2020 à 12:00 am

Body and aesthetic care services, including hair salons, dental clinics and other services may resume service starting June 1.

Quebec Minister of Health and Social Services Danielle McCann gave examples of private, physical and aesthetic health care:

(See below for the detailed list of services affected by this announcement.)

Companies in these sectors can therefore resume their activities gradually. However, they must take all the necessary precautions to ensure a safe environment for staff and customers.

The client will not be obliged to wear the mask, but he will be strongly encouraged to do so, as explained by the Minister of Employment, Jean Boulet, and Dr. Richard Massé, from the Department of Public Health:

Due to the nature of the care provided by dental professionals, additional preventive measures will be implemented. For example, patients should rinse their mouths with an antiseptic mouthwash before their treatment.

Any client with symptoms of COVID-19 (ex. fever, cough, sore throat, difficulty breathing, loss of smell) should not use these services. Those affected must postpone their appointment and be placed in isolation for 14 days. When they resume their appointment, they must not have had a fever for at least 48 hours, nor have symptoms for at least 24 hours.
