The Downtown Life Committee of Rapides-des-Joachims has a whole host of community events planned for the coming months.

Committee member Lucie Rivet Paquette explained that they have three events coming up in April, starting with a free movie night for children on April 1 at 7 p.m. They will be showing the family comedy Clifford the Big Red Dog. All of the weekend’s events will be held at the Municipal Hall, located at 48 rue de l’Eglise.

On April 2, they will be hosting a free dinner for seniors (60+) in the municipality that will feature live music as well. She said that the event was invite only due to their budget, but added that they had 60 people attending with another 10 getting their meals delivered.

On Sunday April 3, they will be holding a fundraiser bingo, with the doors opening at 1:30 p.m. and the festivities starting at 2 p.m.

Classic car show

Looking ahead the fifth edition of the committee’s biggest event of the year, their annual classic car show, will take place July 9. It will feature the musician Ghys Mongeons and plenty of other activities for adults and children. More information is available at (819) 334-1739.
