The Minister of National Revenue, Diane Lebouthiller, spoke with CHIP 101.9 regarding the various programs to financially support businesses and organizations across the country.

Diane Lebouthiller announced that eligible organizations can begin submitting their applications for the Canada Emergency Rent Grant (SUCL) to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). These organizations can now use the CRA’s platforms to request financial support for the period September 27 to October 24, 2020. Applications for the second eligibility period (October 25 to November 21, 2020) can be submitted effective November 30, 2020. The government says it offers targeted and direct support to businesses, nonprofits and charities that continue to face the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I am proud to see Agency employees rallying once again to deliver another important program for businesses, charities and nonprofits to navigate the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. SUCL is the seventh program launched by the Agency since the start of the pandemic and has incorporated all the lessons and feedback from previous programs to provide easily accessible personalized support that meets the needs of applicants. Owners and employees of small Canadian businesses can always count on the Agency to put people first, especially in these difficult times, ”said National Revenue Minister Diane Lebouthillier.

SUCL is the successor to Canada’s Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance (AUCLC) and provides accessible support to eligible organizations affected by COVID-19 without having to go through their landlords. The new rental subsidy helps businesses, charities and nonprofits that have experienced a drop in income by providing financial assistance of up to 65% of eligible expenses.
