Two people died in a fatal head on collision involving two vehicles on highway 148 in the municipality of Pontiac, Quyon sector.

According to information provided by the public security of the MRC des Collines de l’Outaouais, two people died in the head on collision on Hwy 148 last night, a young man (driver) and woman (one of the two passengers) in their early twenties. A third passenger occupied the vehicle, and suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The vehicle in question ended up complete opposite lane and although the cause of the collision is still as of yet unknown, police are ruling out speed, alcohol or drugs as factors at this time.

In the other vehicle traveling westbound, the driver and her two children also suffered severe but non-life threatening injuries.

The roadway was closed in both directions and reopened this morning at 3:15 am between Clarendon Street and Murray Road. Police, firefighters and paramedics were on site.
