NEWS RELEASE FLOOD NOTICE

Following the rains and the rapid melting of snow, the levels of the Coulonge and Ottawa rivers are continually rising and have the potential to emerge considerably from their beds. The Town Council of Mansfield-et-Pontefract asks all citizens whose homes are located in areas at risk of flooding to provide the means required to ensure the safety of their family members and the protection of their property.

Sandbags are available at the municipal sand pit located at 32 chemin Lac-de-La-Truite. We ask citizens to ensure that the spaces at risk (basement) remain unoccupied during the night and to store the goods and furniture on the upper floor, as well as to ensure that dangerous products are stored in safe places so that no propane tank, oil tank or other can be washed away. We also ask any citizen who leaves his home to notify us and give us the coordinates to reach him if necessary.

Citizens in need of help or information can contact the following people;

Eric Rochon, General Manager: Tel (Office): 819-683-2944 Cell: 613-717-1791
Darcy Bélair, Fire Chief: Tel (Cell): 613-401-2607
Pat Bertrand, Fire Chief Assistant: Tel (Cell): 613-401-7925
Gilles Dionne, Mayor: Tel (Cell): 819-744-1775

The assistance provided by municipal staff will be aimed at ensuring the survival of citizens and mitigating damage to permanent residences wherever possible, as well as municipal infrastructure.

The Municipality wants to put in place a list of volunteers who when the time comes will
either be able to fill sandbags or help citizens in need of help without danger. You can call the municipal office (819-683-2944) to add your name to the list.

Yours
Gilles Dionne
Mayor
