Extreme Fire Danger in the Pontiac

Extreme Fire Danger in the Pontiac

24 May 2018 à 12:00 am

La Société de protection des forêts contre le feu (SOPFEU) indicates that risk of forest fires in the Pontiac is considered Very High to Extreme this week. According to SOPFEU forecasts, the fire danger will be on the rise over the next three days. The wind, sun and little precipitation will create dry conditions in several regions across Quebec, including the Outaouais. With the start of the fishing and camping seasons, activity in the forest will also be up. SOPFEU recommends that outdoor enthusiasts be cautious. Since the beginning of the forest fire season, there have been 152 fires in Quebec which affected 133 hectares of forestland. Of these, 140 fires have occurred since start of May. Real-time information on the risks and fires in activity is available via SOPFEU’s mobile app or at www.sopfeu.qc.ca.
