The Sûreté du Québec issued a press release yesterday to report the several days that were specifically dedicated to the eradication of foreign cannabis throughout the province in recent weeks, with the goal of seizing illegal plants and arresting smugglers.

For the Outaouais-Laurentides region, more than 7,800 plants were seized, ans about 60 people have been arrested and face various charges under the Cannabis Act across the province. In addition, investigations are still ongoing. As the cultivation period of outdoor cannabis is coming to an end, the police will continue to intervene with cannabis producers who act outside the legal framework.

The Sûreté du Québec is reminding Quebec residents that anyone with information on cannabis smuggling can contact, confidentially, the Central Criminal Information Service at 1-800-659-4264.
