Details about the resignation of Pierre Fréchette from Grand-Calumet Island
The meeting of the Municipal Council of Grand-Calumet Island was held last night. The council therefore received the letter of resignation from Pierre Fréchette who had been as mayor since his election last fall. François Carrier was at the meeting, he reported that he has never seen a public question period last so long with some many different people answering questions.
The next mayor will be appointed by the municipal council. Members will have to select a mayor from the current councillors.
Residents of the Island municipality will be called to the polls for the 4th time in 4 years to choose a mayor in the November 5th general election.
