What do insurance companies cover when a home is affected by a tornado or other weather phenomenon? CHIP 101.9 asked the Insurance Bureau of Canada spokesperson, Anne Morin, who explained that wind damage is mostly covered by most insurance policies Home-Automobile. However, it specifies that there is an exception concerning the trees and other vegetation around homes or automobiles that could be affected by the tornado:

The mayor of the Municipality of Pontiac, Joanne Labadie, raised concerns during an interview with CHIP 101.9, Monday, wondering about the amount that will have to be paid by the municipality to clean up the damage caused by the tornado on its territory.

It should be noted that about one hundred residences were affected during the tornado in the municipality of Pontiac last Friday, including about twenty houses that show significant damage. On the Municipality’s Facebook page, it’s mentioned that “discussions are ongoing with provincial and regional governments to identify possible strategies for cleaning up additional debris in the affected area.”

Not 1… 6 tornadoes hit the Ottawa-Gatineau region

One of them at 25 kilometers north of Otter Lake in the MRC of Pontiac. The satellite images, studied by Environment and Climate Change Canada’s investigation team, would detect it was a force 1 tornado EF1 (Force 1) and the damage spread for 3km in forest .
