The press release by the Voix du PONTIAC-PONTIAC Voice group last Monday on the anticipated budget deficit of the Centre intégré de Santé et de services sociaux de l’Outaouais prompted reactions from some on social media. The anticipated deficit of nearly $ 6 million was announced earlier this week. The CISSS de l’Outaouais responded to the release with bemusement, saying that management is currently working with the Ministry of Health to balance its budget by March 31.

According to the CISSSO, more than half of this deficit is due to salary insurance costs and the use of overtime, while the other half comes from the costs of drugs and laboratory supplies.

Feedback from members of the Voix du PONTIAC-PONTIAC Voice Group also included concerns about hemodialysis equipment being installed at the Shawville Hospital. The CISSSO confirmed to CHIP 101.9 that the hemodialysis machines will be moved, as planned, from the Hull Hospital to the Pontiac Hospital Center, but that there are no plans to purchase new machines. The rest of the equipment will be new.
