CHIP Survey: What do you think of the Pontiac Pool Project? The results

30 November 2018 à 12:00 am

Yesterday, during the Midis Express Pontiac Show, our journalist Élizabeth Séguin invited the public of CHIP 101.9 to an open line, to give their opinion on the Pontiac swimming pool project. Many have react to the survey proposed on the various platforms, at chipfm.com, on the Facebook page as well as during the special show. Here are some comments from residents of the area (French only).

The pool project is not unanimous in the MRC Pontiac. According to the survey conducted in recent weeks at chipfm.com, which asked residents if they were “in agreement or not with the regional pool project as defended by the Pontiac MRC warden, Jane Toller”, 120 respondents said they agreed, 14 of them said they disagreed, and 6 were undecided, out of a total of 140 respondents.

Via the CHIP 101,9 Facebook page we also counted several reactions, positive and also concerns about specific details. Among others, Véronique Masseau, has some concerns about whether the pool will use a salt or chlorine treatment system, the number of women’s toilets and the location of the pool, which she thinks should be in Campbell’s Bay rather than in Fort-Coulonge, to be “more centralized” compared to the Pembroke and Aylmer facilities. She also added that the Pontiac could benefit from a recreation center that would include both a pool and a multipurpose gym to promote physical activity.

Other Pontiac residents, such as Manon Artista Picard and Melanie Duchesne, supported Ms. Masseau’s commentary, that the pool should be located in Campbell’s Bay. The idea of a sports center was also discussed on social networks.
