CHIP 101.9 visits the new Fablab du Jardin

CHIP 101.9 visited the new premises of the Fablab du Jardin, which moved to Front Street in Campbell’s Bay at the beginning of October. During the summer season, the workshop was set up at the Collège Héritage to allow Pontiac residents to try out “modern creative machines”. Fablab du Jardin’s Project Coordinator Gregory Beard talked about the new changes to the FabLab in their new establishment.

The initiative, born from a collaboration between the Fabrique Mobile de l’Outaouais and the Jardin éducatif du Pontiac, offers Pontiac residents the opportunity to use digital creation tools, such as 3D printer, a laser cutter and electronics for different projects.

The relocation of the Fablab du Jardin has resulted in more space for the realization of different projects and now allows specialized courses, the ”digital Maker Program”, offered to people, between the ages of 16 to 30, who want to master digital manufacturing, project management and entrepreneurship. Gregory Beard gives more details about the program.

The digital maker training will continue until February 2020. Currently, 11 students are enrolled in the program which Beard says is their maximum. On site, CHIP spoke to one of the students taking this new course, Martin Tessier:
