The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) seized more than 3,200 cannabis plants and more than 105 kilos of cannabis in recent weeks by postal police of the MRC Pontiac, Vallée-de-la-Gatineau and Antoine-Labelle, in collaboration with the Major Crimes Investigation Service. They also arrested 11 people who are facing cannabis production charges.

The SQ added that they will be continuing to fight against the illegal production of drugs, in particular under the new concerted action program ACCES Cannabis. Despite the legalization of Cannabis on October 17 (Cannabis Act), certain activities will remain criminal or a penal offenses such as production, possession for the purpose of trafficking, sale on black market, and import and export.

It should also be noted that the Cannabis Act (provincial law), passed on June 12 by the Quebec government, stipulates that the cultivation of cannabis for personal use is prohibited and requires citizens to buy their goods online or in the stores.
