Yesterday, the MRC Pontiac issued a public notice pertaining to the amount of uncontrolled dumpsites in the public forests of the MRC Pontiac. Following an agreement signed between the municipality of Otter Lake and the MRC, TNO users in the townships served by the Picanoc road can dispose of their household waste at the municipal reception site (577 Hwy 301 North) for free.

On October 8th, 2019, a few pictures were taken at km 31 on the Usborne/Picanoc road as an example of an illegal dump site, where discarded household waste, recyclables, appliances and furniture, and construction waste was found. In the past, there were 2 bins managed by the MRC in this location to allow TNO users to discard their household waste. Though, due to continual disposal of non-household waste items, the MRC was forced to permanently close this site in 2017. Since clean-up began in 2010, the MRC has spent $60 000 cleaning 100 tonnes of littered garbage at this location to no avail.

The same goes for TNO users travelling other main access roads of the TNO, such as the townships served by the Bois Franc road who can go to the Mansfield-et-Pontefract reception site, those from Schyan road can go to Sheenboro site and those using Rapides road can go to Rapides-des-Joachims.
