According to the results found during the analysis of the dead fish that were found on Ottawa River in the Lièvre River area, the cause so far is believed to be due to an acute environmental toxicity. That is what is suspected by specialists so far as they claim that the analysis still have not revealed any disease relating to infectious diseases.

The Ministry of Forests, Wildlife and Parks issued the lab results to the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change as well as to the Centre Intégré de santé et de services sociaux de l’Outaouais.

The team of biologists and technicians were on site at Lièvre river once again on Wednesday July 17th and mentions that no new fish was found. It also mentioned that on site, the team noticed that almost all the dead fish were gone. This finding was noted by the ministry as a sudden and circumstantial situation.

There are no restrictions on fishing in the Lièvre River area of the Ottawa River.
