Pembroke Regional Hospital adjusts to the Pandemic

The Pembroke Regional Hospital (PRH) has seen many changes brought to its administration as a way to limit and track the spread of the novel coronavirus within the County.

The Vice-President of Clinical and Support services, Partnerships and Integration at the PRH, Sabine Mersmann explained how the Hospital has adjusted over the two month of this Pandemic.

Mersmann added that although the Healthcare system in the Renfrew county was sent into the new normal induced by the COVID-19 crisis, the PRH hold certain preoccupations moving forward in accordance to the announcements made by the Ford government and the current situation within Seniors homes in the County.

To date, there are 18 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the County of Renfrew. The Regional Lab which provide testing for 16 hospital including the Pembroke Regional Hospital is equipped to execute over 2000 COVID-19 tests per day, according to Mersmann, with no issues.

The health network in the County of Renfrew is currently doing a wide sweep of the Seniors residences in the county to determine the number of elderly with COVID-19, and this sweep will be finished as of May 15th, 2020.
